Longsword Indoor Solo Drill Class - East End

This drop-in style weekly class offers physically distanced, guided solo longsword practice over July and August. Please register for each individual class you will attend.

Each one-hour class includes a warm-up, and instructor guided solo drills for the longsword, including instructor feedback. Participants will also get access to the Ottawa Swordplay Discord Server, including access to our Saturday live video classes. In-person classes will build on the Saturday live video class content.

These sessions will be held indoors at Ottawa Swordplay. The doors at the front at back of the training hall will be kept open to improve ventilation.

Craig and Matthew will instruct these sessions.

Students will need a cloth or similar maskwater bottle and a practice longsword. If you do not have a longsword, we will loan you a wooden trainer for the summer. You do not need a fencing mask. You are encouraged to wear a non-medical (cloth) mask for the class. As the class is outdoors with physical distancing, a mask is not mandatory.

Sliding Price Scale

These sessions are offered with a sliding price scale.  Choose between the Generous, Standard, or Subsidized rates according to your means.

COVID-19 Precautions

Ottawa Swordplay is following all public health recommendations to offer a safe class experience. Classes will use physical distancing from each other and from instructors. Students must wear masks in compliance with Ottawa's Covid-19 indoor regulations. Class size is limited to 10 students and 2 instructors. Doors will be kept open on both sides of the training area to improve ventilation.

Students may not attend class if they have traveled outside the country in the last two weeks, if they have any symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever or cough, or if they have been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive or suspects they may have Covid-19. If you need to cancel your registration for these reasons, you will be receive a refund for the class.

Should an instructor become ill, classes they lead will be cancelled for two weeks or until they are confirmed to have tested negative for Covid-19.
