Rapier Solo Drill Class
This drop-in style weekly class offers physically distanced, guided rapier practice. Please register for each individual class you will attend.
Each one-hour class includes a warm-up, and instructor guided solo drills for rapier, including instructor feedback. Some classes will include working with pells and targets. Participants will also get access to the Ottawa Swordplay Discord Server, including access to our Saturday live video classes.
These sessions will be held indoors at the Ottawa Swordplay Sword Hall. Students can access the bathroom and get water, but change rooms are not available.
John and Jacques will instruct these sessions.
Students will need a non-medical (cloth) mask, indoor shoes, a water bottle and a practice single sword. If you do not have a sword you can use in one hand, we will loan you a trainer for the class (supplies are limited). You do not need a fencing mask. You must wear a non-medical (cloth) mask for the class. Outdoor shoes and boots are not permitted on the Sword Hall floor, please bring indoor shoes to change into.
Sliding Price Scale
These sessions are offered with a sliding price scale. Choose between the Generous, Standard, or Subsidized rates according to your means.
Ottawa Swordplay is following all public health recommendations to offer a safe class experience. Classes will be held indoors with physical distancing from each other and from instructors. Class size is limited to 10 students and 2 instructors. High contact surfaces are regularly sanitized.
No paired drills and no freeplay will be allowed due to the risk of close contact. This includes students from the same social bubble.
Students may not attend class if they have traveled outside the country in the last two weeks, if they have any symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever or cough, or if they have been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive or suspects they may have Covid-19. If you need to cancel your registration for these reasons, you will be receive a refund for the class.
Should an instructor become ill, classes they lead will be cancelled for two weeks or until they are confirmed to have tested negative for Covid-19.
