Weapon of the Week Outdoor Solo Drill Class - West End

This drop-in style weekly class offers physically distanced, guided medieval weapons practice for novice and intermediate students. Please register for each individual class you will attend.

Each one-hour class includes a warm-up, and instructor guided solo drills, including instructor feedback. The weapon of focus will vary by week:

July 15: Rapier

July  22: Dagger

July 29: Mordaxe  Sword and Buckler

Participants will also get access to the Ottawa Swordplay Discord Server, including access to our Saturday live video classes. In-person classes will build on the Saturday live video class content.  Weapon of the Week class content may vary from the longsword drill classes where appropriate.

These sessions will be held at Britannia Park. Visit the following Google Maps link for the approximate location:

John and Jacques will instruct these sessions.

Students will need a water bottle and a practice weapon. If you do not have the exact weapon of focus for the week, most actions can be done with a sword, and we may be able to loan you a trainer (best to let us know in advance as supplies are limited). You do not need a fencing mask. You are encouraged to wear a non-medical (cloth) mask for the class. As the class is outdoors with physical distancing, a mask is not mandatory.

Sliding Price Scale

These sessions are offered with a sliding price scale.  Choose between the Generous, Standard, or Subsidized rates according to your means.
